Storytelling
Migration stories are too often reduced to headlines, statistics, and political debates.
Creshendo’s Story Archive documents the experiences, perspectives, and journeys of migrants and refugees in their own words. Through interviews, illustration, and multimedia storytelling, we are building a growing collection of stories that preserve lived experience and challenge simplified narratives about migration.
Many of these stories emerge through the communities, relationships, and programs that shape our work. Together, they offer a deeper understanding of migration as it is actually lived: complex, personal, and deeply human.
We believe stories do more than raise awareness. They preserve memory, challenge assumptions, and create space for people to define their own narratives.

Story 1: “The hardest part was saying goodbye to my parents…”
Like many migrants, his journey was shaped by difficult choices and unanswered questions. Decades later, he has built a life and family in the United States, but that moment remains with him.
Migration is often discussed through numbers, policies, and headlines. But for the people living it, it can begin with something much simpler: leaving the people you love and hoping the sacrifice will be worth it.
